Room Doctor has Futon Mattresses at every price point, but you can always expect the best quality futon mattress for your dollar from us at ANY price. Our Traditional Fibre Foam futon mattresses are cheap in price, and high in quality. The Liberty, the Tender Touch and the Freedom Futon Mattresses are all fantastic choices, and each one is Made in America, which is important to us, and we hope it is for you too!

What is Fibre Foam? And What it is NOT…

This particular style of futon mattress is constructed of multi layers of cotton batting and “Fibre foam”. We are all fairly familiar with what cotton batting is, but what is Fibre foam? Fibre foam is Not a variety of a polyurethane foam. Fibre foam is Not the spongy types of foams we traditionally see in upholstered furniture that are laden with chemicals simply due to their petroleum based nature.

Fibre Foam is the result of an Eco-friendly Process. Within the process of these mattresses being manufactured (the casings being cut and stitched, the batting being sized, etc.) the excess materials and cotton remnants are collected. This collection of valuable resources is then formed and pressed into a mat-like substance. This Fibre-made mat is then layered amidst generous portions of cotton batting. The overall thickness and plushness of the mattress you choose is determined by the number and order of layers (of fibre-foam and cotton batting) used in each. That’s the “Eco-friendly” Process – No Petroleum-Based Materials used, No Wasted Resources, and No Excess Chemicals.

The fire retardant used on these types of mattresses is industry standard, similar to what is used on most commercially sold bedding. We sell both chemical free futon mattresses and chemical free luxury bed mattresses! Call us for complete information.

Size Options

Room Doctor has all of the standard mattress sizes, including Twin, Full, and Queen, and by special order we can get you Crib Size, Twin XL and Full XL or King. Some of the futon mattress varieties are available as Split Futons (two–piece), and Custom Futon Mattress sizes are also available in many circumstances. Just inquire!

Optional Futon Cover

Futon Covers are a good idea, but not a must. Where or how the futon mattress is going to be used usually determines the need for a cover. If you are using one of these futon mattresses as a bed mattress, you’ll just need your regular sheets, and maybe a mattress pad if you usually use one. If you think the futon will be heavily used and/or heavily seen, a futon cover would be recommended for the visual appeal, as well as the wash-ability. Here you can preview some samples of solid colored covers we typically carry, but so many other styles can be acquired that have specific patterns or prints to suit your personal design or decorating style. As mentioned above, the mattress covering on these types of mattress will be green or natural color, and that covering is not removable because it is the actual casing of the mattress. Styles and fun patterns come into play by the cover you choose to purchase. (for reference, Micro-suede fabric on the right; Twill fabric on the left) Call us to see more options.
