What’s So Great about This Futon Frame Compared to Others?

It’s Little. This Short Loft is great for transitioning times. We know (from 25 years of experience making them), that loft beds are traditionally the best way to maximize your space. But, we also know putting your little ones up high can be a questionable idea to explore. Rest assured, we have found a great compromise.

This Junior Sized Loft follows the same solid design as our standard height Freedom Loft, which offers Superior Strength and a Partial Front Guard Rail (a full length guard rail is provided for the back side of the loft). This Partial Guard Rail is securely fastened in the center of the front bed rail, providing an opening on either side for a Junior Sized Ladder. We understand that floor space is a luxury, so we’ve built this loft to support climbing up the sides should a ladder not work well for your space. The ladder rests at an angle, and will extend away from the bottom of the loft by about 12 Inches.

The Total Height of the unit is 54 Inches, and the Under Clearance (the space from the bottom of the side bed rail to the floor) provides 38.5 Inches of space. We’ve seen some creative uses for the space underneath: some have added a Trundle to make it a junior sized bunk bed, while others have filled it with space saving items like our 4-Drawer Dresser which fits perfectly underneath, or even a Bookshelf (or two)-We have tons of sizes to choose from!

E-Z Assembly/Move, Great Warranty

Solid, pre-assembled end panels make for an E-Z Assembly.  Requires a 1/2″ wrench (socket wrench is best) and a phillips screwdriver or drill with a #2 phillips bit.  10 Year Warranty but built to last a lifetime!

Mattress Considerations

We recommend using an 8 Inch mattress or less. The area that the mattress will drop into is approximately 12-13 Inches. To get the maximum effectiveness from the guard rail, you’ll want to be sure it will protrude above the mattress by 4-5 Inches to keep your little ones safe and secure. Typical children’s mattresses are usually 7-8 Inches high, and some people opt to use a futon mattress since they are commonly offered in that thickness (and the futon mattresses can be FedEx’d, where conventional mattresses usually cannot be). You decide what’s best for you. A Bunkie board, box spring or foundation is not used for this loft; It comes with a 12-slat kit that drops right into the frame to support the mattress you choose.
